alt-JBritish indie rockers Alt-J have dropped a brand new single and video, announcing their first full-length album in four years.
Following up from 2017's Relaxer, the UK trio will premiere their fourth LP, The Dream, next Feburary. The band also revealed their new single, U&ME, has a special connection to Aus - particularly for band member Joe Newman.
"It’s about being at a festival with your best friends," vocalist Gus Unger-Hamilton explained while revealing the song took inspiration from a day Newman had at Melbourne's Sun Cycle Festival a few years ago. "having a good time, togetherness, and the feeling in life that nothing could be any better than it is right now.”
Written during a number of soundchecks while on tour, the song encapsulates the camaraderie of the band and their ability to evolve as a unit.
"It gathered momentum on it’s own," Newman added of the process. "It was best to just get out of its way. We were just there.”
Directed by Unger-Hamilton's brother, Prosper, the video is the first music clip from the band to feature all three on film.
The Dream is slated for release 11 February, 2022. Check out the new clip for U&ME below:
