Aussie metalcore band Alpha Wolf got into a scuffle with a security guard during their show at The Warfield in San Francisco last week, during which vocalist Lochie Keogh was pulled off the stage riser.
The band, touring the US while supporting hard rock band Dayseeker, expressed frustration that security guards allegedly didn’t do enough to support crowd surfers as they came over the rail.
The tension resulted in an incident at the end of Alpha Wolf’s set, where they encouraged fans to crowd surf during their final song of the night, Akudama.
In a review of the band’s set published by Riff Magazine, Keogh reportedly pulled the knitted hat off a security guard’s head “for the second time.” The security guard allegedly responded by grabbing Keogh from the angle and pulling him from the stage riser, reportedly damaging a piece of lighting at the same time.
After Keogh was pulled off the stage riser, guitarist Sabian Lynch reportedly hurled his guitar at the security guard, and Keogh went to find more security guards.
The band’s music was cut, the lights came on, and the touring crew immediately acted to diffuse the incident.

Riff Magazine reports that the security guard involved in the incident has been placed on “investigative leave.”
Fan-shot footage and reports on Reddit state that Keogh initially approached the security guard after they allegedly failed to help a fan who got injured while crowd surfing.
“Crowdsurfed during @alphawolfcvlt 'Akudama' and security didn't even try to catch me,” the fan reportedly involved in the incident wrote on Instagram along with footage of the aftermath.
They added, “I hit my head on the barricade and sprained my ankle. Lochie got upset at security, and the guard decided to pull him down from the stage along with some stage lights, resulting in the end of their set and this altercation. Love you guys,” tagging Keogh and Lynch on Instagram.
Alpha Wolf will return home next month, performing at Good Things Festival alongside Korn, Sum 41, Mastodon, The Living End, and stacks more.
Reviewing their show at the Forum in Melbourne earlier this year, The Music’s Rod Whitfield exclaimed: “After one hour and ten minutes of rippling, bristling power and passion, the band leave the stage, and the crowd files out of the hallowed hall, content in the fact that they bore witness to something rather special this night.”
Alpha Wolf have been touring in support of their latest album, Half Living Things, which features an epic collaboration with Ice-T.
