More Foreigner More Foreigner

‘80s rock legends (and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers) Foreigner have offered to be the official wedding band at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, and honestly, we’re here for it.

Taking to Instagram this week, the band matched a teal background with orange lettering – the same colours and reminiscent lettering on the album cover for Swift’s forthcoming record, The Life Of A Showgirl – to share an open letter for the couple.

Referencing their classic hit, I Want To Know What Love Is, the band wrote: “Dear Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, we know what love is.

“We spent 40 years figuring it out... and now you guys have too. Please accept this as our formal offer to be your wedding band. Best wishes, Foreigner.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement in late August, captioning a collaborative post on Instagram: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The A-list couple – of course, Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in music, while Travis Kelce plays for the Kansas City Chiefs – started dating in July 2023 while Swift was in the midst of her epic Eras Tour.

Last year, the couple made headlines when they kissed on the field after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl – as a Chiefs player, Kelce scored his third Super Bowl win – against the San Francisco team, the 49ers.

Following the win and still on tour, Swift adjusted the lyrics to her hit song, Karma, to reference Kelce. She sang, “Karma is the guy in the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.

Foreigner were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. Known for hits such as I Want To Know What Love Is, Juke Box Hero, Cold As Ice, Urgent, and more, the band has had numerous line-up changes and continues to tour.

They returned to Australia in 2018, with The Music’s Bryget Chrisfield writing about their gig at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, “We demand and score an encore. The majesty of Hot Blooded always takes us completely by surprise, and tonight is no exception: the track totally takes us there.

“As we contemplate the suggestive nature of a ‘secret rendezvous,’ as mentioned within this song's lyrics, we suspect that all in the house have suddenly ‘got a fever of a hundred and three.’ And when a show’s this good, merch is a necessity.”
