1,000 musicians from across the globe have paid tribute to undisputed rock'n'roll legend Taylor Hawkins, covering Foo Fighters' My Hero.

The musicians gathered at Stade de France in Paris over the weekend for a staging of the Rockin'1000 concert, which is a live celebration of rock music and sees artists from around the world gather to rock out together. It includes hundreds of live singers, guitarists, bassists and drummers.

Last Saturday's show was the first staging of the concert in over three years due to the pandemic. It drew a crowd of over 50,000 people looking on in the stadium, performing songs from The Who, Rage Against The Machine, Pink Floyd, The White Stripes, Guns N Roses and of course Foo Fighters.

The performance is far from the first high-profile tribute to the icon, with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers recently paying tribute while playing the band's slot at New Orlean's Jazz Fest.

Chad Smith, RHCP drummer and long time friend of Hawkins said, “We just found out about this two weeks ago, because Foo Fighters were supposed to play here tonight. We love Foo Fighters, and we love our brother Taylor Hawkins. This means a lot to us to be able to play for them.”

With members of the Foo Fighters and Hawkins family in attendance, Smith had the crowd chant “We love you, Taylor!” to end their set.
