Rising from the legacy of the much-missed rock n’ roll haven Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice has recently emerged a brand new venture: The Caterpillar Club.

This subterranean music lounge, located beneath Pitt Street in the CBD, is the brainchild of Sydney-based hospitality pioneers Swillhouse, renowned for local hotspots like Shady Pines Saloon and The Baxter INN, and of course, the beloved Frankie’s Pizza.

At 92 Pitt Street, formerly known as the Men’s Gallery site, The Caterpillar Club boasts one of the world's largest record collections, with over 10,000 vinyl albums ready to soundtrack the late-night vibes spun by talented DJs.

The venue offers a dynamic experience, featuring a live music setup for jazz fusion and funk acts to keep the dancefloor alive until the early morning hours. The venue is licensed to keep the party going until 3 am on Sundays through Thursdays and 4 am on Fridays and Saturdays — ensuring the city's night owls have a new sanctuary for their after-hours adventures.

While paying homage to the grunge aesthetic of Frankie's, The Caterpillar Club embraces a swankier ambiance.

The space is adorned in red, featuring Parisian-style café tables and a menu of classy cocktail classics. Patrons can indulge in negronis, americanos, pina coladas, lychee martinis, and even zombie cocktails on tap. The venue also surprises with familiar touches such as candlelit booths and a hidden Tiki bar named The Bamboo Room, bringing a tropical atmosphere and colorful, fruity beverages.

Led by Head Chef Isobel Little, The Caterpillar Club's menu features an array of delectable dishes available throughout the night. From dry-aged beef burgers served rare to tuna melt sandwiches, spinach and cheese hand pies, and crab and avocado cocktails, the culinary offerings are set to complement the diverse musical experience.

For those who frequented Frankie’s Pizza, The Caterpillar Club offers a reunion of sorts, with familiar faces scattered across the venue staff and security personnel ready to welcome patrons into the velvet-draped depths of this new Pitt Street establishment.
