In devastating news for punters along the Gold Coast, Rattlesnake Nightclub has confirmed its impending closure, with its doors closing at the end of the month.

The haunt has supported local musicians and the local scene since opening in 2008. Providing an all-inclusive space in Coolangatta, the aim behind the beloved club has been to connect attendees with dance music and artists with opportunities.

The Rattlesnake team is passionate about the local rave and party scenes, keeping them alive in the 21st century and remaining inclusive for all.

Rattlesnake Nightclub’s last day will take place on Saturday, 27 September. Punters are encouraged to head to the venue over the next two weekends to say farewell and enjoy some live music.

“We are sad to announce that Rattlesnake Nightclub will be closing permanently,” a post from the Rattlesnake team on social media reads.

The statement continued, “Thank you for all the memories, the music, and the love you’ve shared with us over the last 15 years.”

The team captioned the post, “Still open this weekend with live music Friday and upstairs Saturday 💔Last day Saturday the 27th of September.”

No reason for the venue’s cancellation was given.

In 2018, Rattlesnake was voted the top nightclub on the Gold Coast, per the Gold Coast Bulletin’s readers.

Venue Director Tim Poulton described the space as a “proper, safe party with like-minded people with no pretension.” Poulton added that Rattlesnake is “a straight-up, dark, sweaty, full nightclub experience.”

In addition to its great, authentic vibe, Rattlesnake Nightclub has been home to a variety of club-ready music and local artists.

“It used to be an old bar you’d see in a Quentin Tarantino film,” Poulton explained. “We’ve gone through so many changes and turned it into what it should be. It’s based around music — party music, house, bass, trap, hip hop, a little techno.”
