GYRO.Group is taking a leap towards world domination, today announcing the opening of their first Latin American office in Brazil.

The Australian-owned, leading independent digital music distribution and artist services company operates the distribution platform DistroDirect and Australia’s market-leading DIY platform, G.Y.R.O. - Get Your Record Out.

Following its partnership with the local operator Music Stream, GYRO.Group has announced the opening of their Brazilian headquarters, which will be located in Santos, São Paulo. By launching an office on the ground, the Australian company is effectively entering the Latin American music market.

The opening of the office follows the Brazilian market's recent 21.7% growth. It’s currently on track to reach USD$1 billion by 2027.

GYRO.Group CEO Andy Irvine declared that Latin America is one of the most exciting and underserved regions in the music industry.

“We’ve been representing incredible artists and labels in Brazil for a number of years now, but opening our doors there is a statement of intent – we are here to build something lasting with the music community, to connect incredible local talent with global opportunities, and to do it with the infrastructure and expertise that artists and labels deserve,” Irvine said.

The office is scheduled to open on Friday, 27 March. Samuel Fernandes, CEO of MusicStream and Head of Operations for DistroDirect in Latin America, will spearhead the new Santos site.

With MusicStream, Fernandes oversees day-to-day operations, artist and label operations, plus media positioning across Latin America. Through the Santos office, artists, labels and DistroDirect customers will receive comprehensive support in label and distributor management, release rollouts, media relations, digital marketing, and more.

In a statement, Fernandes explained that the Brazilian office isn’t just a new office; it marks a new chapter for independent music in Brazil.

“We’re bringing tools and support that were previously out of reach for most artists and labels here, and we’re doing it with people who understand this market from the inside,” he said. “The energy in the local industry right now is extraordinary, and we’re ready to be part of it.”

GYRO.Group CCO Matthew Rogers, who looks after DistroDirect globally, has explained that Brazil is a cornerstone of the company’s strategy in Latin America.

“The appetite for professional distribution services is real, and our partnership with Sam and his team as key regional players positions us to deliver results from day one,” Rogers said. “This office is where the relationships become tangible.”

In a statement to The Music, Rogers added, “Latin America is one of the fastest-growing regions in the global recorded music market, and establishing a permanent presence in Brazil allows us to export Australian-developed technology and services into a market that is scaling rapidly.

“We’ve built and proven these platforms with Australian artists and labels, and we’re now taking that success into Latin America through this local partnership.

“This also creates a more direct commercial pathway for Australian rights holders to access the region, building on the strong foundation of awareness and relationships established over many years by Sounds Australia.”
