BMG has expanded its longtime relationship with Aussie rockers Jet by acquiring the publishing interests in the band’s catalogue. The move follows the purchase of their recording catalogue in 2023.

With the acquisition, BMG covers the publishing interests of three of Jet’s original members: Nic Cester, Cam Muncey, and Mark Wilson.

Discussing the extension of the partnership, frontman Nic Cester said, “We’ve loved working with BMG, and we’re excited to extend that partnership to the publishing side, so these songs can keep finding new audiences in the years ahead.”

Heath Johns, BMG President of Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, added, “There are few Australian bands with songs as internationally recognisable as Jet. Jet was the Australian export story of the early 2000s, carrying the torch for a new generation of rock ’n’ roll storytellers.

“Jet’s enduring success is illustrated on stage at festivals and headline shows around the world, on radio, across streaming, and through a global sync track record of the rarest order. BMG is honoured that Jet has placed their faith in us to help ensure these songs continue to find new audiences for many years to come.”

Jet formed in the late 1990s, with their greatest success taking place in the early 2000s. They’ve released three albums, which have sold over 6.5 million records worldwide.

Their breakthrough debut, Get Born, released in 2003, is certified nine times Platinum in Australia and is one of the highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time. The singles Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Rollover DJ made it to #1 and #19, respectively, on the 2003 triple j Hottest 100.

Jet followed the success of Get Born, which took home an abundance of awards, with 2006’s Shine On and 2009’s Shaka Rock. The Aussie rockers continue to tour, concluding a regional tour across Australia this week.

In July, Jet head to Europe to perform at a number of festivals, including Forestglade Festival, Beautiful Decay Festival, and Barrelas SummerFest. In September, the band are scheduled to tour across the US.

In 2023, Jet were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, with the Australian Recording Industry Association recognising the band’s longstanding impact on the country’s music scene.
