Michael GudinskiThe 100th anniversary celebrations of APRA continue. Today, APRA AMCOS has revealed that its annual songwriting program, SongHubs, will be transformed into the Gudinski SongHubs for the first time.
Commemorating the late, great independent promoter Michael Gudinski, this year’s four-day program—assisted by the federal government through Music Australia—will be curated by The Temper Trap and feature some of Australia’s most thrilling emerging and established artists and producers.
Musicians on board include Middle Kids singer Hannah Joy, Baker’s Eddy’s Ciarann Babbington, Telenova’s Angeline Armstrong, Ross James, Selve, and Sunsick Daisy. The SongHubs program will honour the legacy of Michael Gudinski and his impact on Australian music by showcasing collaboration and a bold vision—elements that helped propel The Temper Trap.
Of course, the group signed to Gudinski’s Liberation Music in 2006 and released their debut, self-titled EP. While working on their first album, Conditions, the band holed up in Gudinski’s Mount Macedon home.
By curating this year’s SongHubs program, The Temper Trap honours one of their greatest supporters as well as his vision, ambition, and trust.

“Michael Gudinski was such an important part of the Temper Trap story, and it’s a real privilege to be a part of the first SongHubs in his name,” said The Temper Trap’s Toby Dundas.
Dundas continued, “MG was a real champion of young Australian bands, and with APRA AMCOS turning the success of the SongHubs camps towards a more band-focused format, it will be a great platform for the next generation of artists.”
The four-day, 2026 edition of SongHubs will take place this month: Tuesday, 24 February, to Friday, 27 February, at Melbourne’s Bakehouse Studios. To find out more about this year’s program, head to the APRA AMCOS website and follow the SongHubs account on Instagram for updates.
Mushroom Group Chief Executive, Matt Gudinski, added, “It’s no secret my dad loved Australian music and always gave artists the space to take risks and be bold. Working with APRA AMCOS on SongHubs has been a pleasure. This initiative reflects his unwavering drive to support and collaborate with songwriters, providing a platform and culture for artists to thrive.”
SongHubs launched in 2013. Since then, the program has continued to provide opportunities for local artists. More than 2,000 Australian and New Zealand songwriters have joined forces with fellow creatives for collaborative time in the studio, with over 6,000 tracks born from the sessions.
Artists, including BRIGGS, Telenova, Courtney Barnett, G Flip, Troye Sivan, and many others, have greatly benefited from the SongHubs program.
“SongHubs provides a collaborative experience like no other, giving songwriters the unique opportunity to spend time with each other in a supportive environment to share, create and hopefully release commercially successful new music together,” said Dean Ormston, CEO of APRA AMCOS.
“As we celebrate APRA’s 100th year of supporting songwriters, composers and music publishers, it seemed a fitting tribute to honour one of Australian music’s most influential people by launching the Gudinski SongHubs.
“Michael was such a passionate supporter of Aussie songwriters, and it’s been wonderful working with Matt Gudinski and Linda Bosidis in making this happen in our 100th year. We can’t wait to hear what comes out of it!”
