Mama Red & the Dark Blues – 10th Anniversary Show

Ten years ago, Mama Red & the Dark Blues saddled up a horse named Sorrow and rode out of Perth on a musical journey to Hades, by way of Lost Love Canyon, Near Miss Alley and Shotgun Street. A decade and two albums later, they've lived to tell the tale, and they're throwing a party to celebrate.

They call it Alt-Folk-Rock with a hint of Blues, but this band refuses to be boxed in. They mess with genres and gender stereotypes, reach back to the earliest bawdy blues, sink into soulful R&B, take a detour through country and folksy gospel, and give a sly nod to modern pop. Through it all they keep their unmistakable Australian Gothic sound.

Expect songs from The Wages of Sin (2016) and Long Way to Redemption (2022), a lead vocalist who can blow the speakers, a posse of WA's finest musicians and some seriously sexy harmonies. Opening the night are Kat Kinley and Kniki Saleeba, playing their own original blues and folk.

Ten years. One night. Give them your undivided attention. If you don't, they may take it by force.
