Powderfinger ProfileFollowing the recent news that their 2027 reunion tour sold out, a reformed Powderfinger have announced a batch of 'encore' dates to cope with overwhelming demand.
Last week saw tickets for Powderfinger's 26-date reunion trek go on sale, with more than 300,000 tickets being purchased in just six days, eclipsing the general sale of the band’s farewell tour in 2010.
With the massive response to these shows, the band admitted they were "gobsmacked by the response to this tour," and assured fans they were in the process of putting together "another string of shows in select destinations that allows as many people as possible to get their hands on tickets".
Indeed, the band have now announced the aptly-titled Encore Run of dates, which launch mere days after the end of their previously-announced tour.
Kicking off on November 5th, 2027, the group will play an additional nine dates, including two shows each at Melbourne Park Oval in Victoria, Hobart's Cornelian Bay Oval, and Perth's Sandalford Estate. Following a one-off gig at Canberra's Stage 88, they'll boot it home with two massive hometown gigs at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
"When we saw how many people missed out on tickets, we knew we couldn't leave it there," Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning said on behalf of the band. "So we're adding some final shows and we've been able to include dates in Hobart and Canberra, which we're really excited about.
"We also have some very talented mates joining us. Thank you for keeping the faith and for being so patient. We can't wait to see you out there."
Indeed, some very talented mates will be on the upcoming bills, including Something For Kate, The Belair Lip Bombs, DMA'S, Ocean Alley, Carla Geneve, Luca Brasi, and South Summit.
The final Brisbane dates will be an all-out showcase of local talent, with the Friday, December 10th edition featuring The Living End, You Am I, and Special Features, while the December 11th gig will boast Violent Soho, Ball Park Music, Thelma Plum and Full Flower Moon Band.
Supports for the previously-announced dates on their tour are still to be announced.
Tickets to these forthcoming dates go on sale from 11am local time on Thursday, November 5th, with pre-sales launching at 10am local time on Wednesday, November 4th.
