No money, mo' problems.
Sydney indie-rockers Georgia June have unveiled the new video for their recent single Broke, drawing on the song's personal lyrics and frontwoman Georgia's everyday life to capture the experience of living on a shoestring budget as a struggling young creative in the city.
Directed by local filmmaker Jared Ziegler, the clip's cuts "feature us playing a show, catching public transport, going to university and simply revelling in a time in my life which feels so stagnant", the singer said. "After talking about the vision I had for the video with Jared, we immediately agreed on how it would be executed."
In the lead-up to the video, the single itself has enjoyed a solid degree of suppport from the likes of FBi and triple j Unearthed, as well as the Hype Machine blogging folks, and it's little wonder, given its catchy hooks, relatable lyrics and infectious drive.
Georgia June will be hitting the stage a few times over the next couple weeks too, if you're keen on sussing them out and enjoying their style in the flesh; they'll be appearing at this week's Australian Music Week event in Cronulla tomorrow, 2 November, as well as their official single launch at Red Rattler (Friday 10 November, with Pacific Avenue and The Lazy Eyes) and Brighton Up Bar (12 November, supporting Eliza & The Delusionals).
