Sydney alt-indie-pop crew A.D.K.O.B will release their as-yet untitled second EP next year, and to help tide fans over in the interim, the band have unveiled the video for their driven new earworm, Giraffe.
Overlaid with a vintage VHS filter, the clip compiles footage — shot by frontman Mark Piccles — of the band rehearsing, recording, hanging out, driving through nighttime city streets and more, a personal and intimate look at life making music.
"I don't think we set out to make a music video exactly, much less for Giraffe, but there was a real humanity and 'fourth-wall' feel to the footage," Piccles explained in a statement. "So I gave it a go with the song, and it really felt right. Something different for us I think, with most of our videos to this point being fairly abstract and hi-fi.
"This one feels more intimate, and shows us just being a band, and being friends. It feels uplifting for me as, despite the song having somewhat of a sad nature, the video showcases the aftermath; focusing on music, and focusing on friendship."

The song itself, with its washed-out guitar, layered sonic treats and sing-along-worthy refrain of 'fuck me up and start again', is the only break-up song that Piccles has written, and came in a flourish following a largely fruitless late-night songwriting session; he describes it as being "slightly uncomfortable … but it feels natural at the same time".
A.D.K.O.B will be hitting the stage in the coming weeks in support of the new single, playing Sydney's Brighton Up Bar on Saturday 11 November and Melbourne's Gasometer (upstairs) on Saturday 2 December.
