Everything You Need To Know About The 2026 Star-Studded Red Hot Summer Tour

Sydney Comedy Focus: Lou Pollard: Vote 1 Lou Pollard

Briefly describe your show. When Joe Hockey left politics in 2015, I stood as a candidate for the by-election in his blue-ribbon Liberal seat of North Sydney. From the ballot declaration where I sat behind Clive Palmer and beside Fred Nile, to kissing babies and watching the Liberal party million-dollar campaign budget being spent, I take the audience on a funny journey through the heartland of a one-party-preferred conservative-voting electorate. When the other candidates are a joke you may as well vote for the comedian.

Besides making people laugh, what else do you hope people get from your show? A few moments of deep thought. In this federal election year, I really hope people ponder very seriously who they're going to vote for. Many Australians aged 18 to 25 aren't on the electoral roll. I want them to enrol to vote so we can have balanced representation. Our environment, education and healthcare are at stake. Tony Abbott and his buffoonery were great fodder for comedians, but his government failed to act on climate change.

When did you realise you had to become a comedian? When my brothers gave me the nickname Bosom. I was three years old.

When and where is your SCF show? 21 & 22 Apr, Factory Theatre
