"It finds the fine balance between biting social commentary and fart jokes."
Briefly describe your show. It's a character-based solo sketch show with bits of stand-up sprinkled though it too. There's a Dead Poets-style teacher, a paintball spruiker and a one-man production of a beloved movie classic. There's talk of David Bowie and people who wear giant animal costumes for a living. It finds the fine balance between biting social commentary and fart jokes. It goes for the same amount of time as an acclaimed HBO show.
Besides making people laugh, what else do you hope people get from your show? The sense of relief that they haven't completely wasted their night, as it'll be finished by 7pm (and on Sunday 6pm!). The evening is still theirs. They can see another show, eat dinner, have a drink, go home, go to a trivia night, visit any shops that are still open, pop in on a friend, surf the web… It's up to them.
What happened the last time you were heckled? The second-last time my mum heckled me, because there was a joke at the expense of singer-songwriters from the '60s that she had grown up with. The last time I got heckled was the following night, so I mentioned how it wasn't as bad as being heckled by my mum.
When and where is your SCF show? 3 - 7 May, Factory Theatre.
