More Squid More Squid

You can't not be blown away by Squid's Bright Green Field

The debut release from the Brighton five-piece - Louis Borlase (guitars & vocals), Ollie Judge (drums & lead vocals), Arthur Leadbetter (keyboards, strings, percussion), Laurie Nankivell (bass & brass) and Anton Pearson (guitars & vocals) - have taken everything from field recordings of church bells, bees, microphones swinging from the ceiling, a choir of 30 voices and more to create one of the year's most dynamic listens.

“This album has created an imaginary cityscape,” said primary lyricist Judge.

“The tracks illustrate the places, events and architecture that exist within it. Previous projects were playful and concerned with characters, whereas this project is darker and more concerned with place - the emotional depth of the music has deepened."

"Bright Green Field is an album to go deep with," said The Music's review of the album earlier this year.

"Layered and aurally tactile, it offers up seemingly endless musical revelations, like travelling through an art exhibition of the greatest pop-art pieces on a fast-moving travelator."
