Hear the hope.
Bendigo born, Melbourne-based musician Joseph Baldwin's new single Mymind is out tomorrow and The Music is pleased to give you a sneak peek premiere a day early.
The track makes use of clean electric folk beats that buoy Baldwin's wistful vocals, while his lyrics capture a wonderful swirl of contradicting emotions.
It's a gentle fight or flight response to new romance, Baldwin deciding that if the flip side of love is pain then the only thing to do is toss the coin and hope.
“It might help to remind people of all the silly and unique things they love about their partners," says Baldwin.
"If anything, I want them to reflect on the things that initially caught their eye in all the people they love.”
Though he's been writing songs since early high school, Baldwin only started releasing them last year after moving to Melbourne in 2017 for Uni, with Mymind coming together while he was struggling to adjust to his new home.

"Mymind was written in a weird time in my life," says Baldwin.
"I had been feeling super isolated and sort of lonely, not really ever getting used to moving away from family.
"The song was written almost in third person to remind me of the happiness the ones I love bring to me. It ends sort of triumphantly, eluding to the hope I was feeling upon writing it."
