Silver Linings' Benny Badge Discusses Their Career Trajectory And Being 'Parrot Friendly'

"Francoise [d'Argent] and Lachy [Peavey] have been part of various bands, whereas I've mainly been in the studio. Having them onboard during the entire recording process has been a game-changer and sets Silver Linings apart from the other projects I've been part of," Badge offers. "We've definitely grown as performers too."

As bassist Peavey is now a permanent fixture of Silver Linings, the three musicians are ready to kick things into high gear, having already toured with some of their idols. "We got the chance to support NYC's John Morales at Belleville. John's credentials are a huge part of the music which inspires our sound; from The Temptations, Patti Austin and Vanity to lesser known influences like 52nd Street and I-level," Badge gushes. "To open for him was an honour and a dream."

Being based in Melbourne, Badge believes his hometown has the ability to help musicians thrive and perfect their art - "In the same way we look to places like London or Berlin for a particular musical experience, our artists are continually producing fresh sounds to a vibrant scene. The result is quality music that has everyone watching.

With their second LP expected later in the year, Badge is intent on keeping that special connection with their fans. "Making music about real stuff is what resonates with people, hence our approach to R&B runs rich with life, love [and lust] reflections.

"All the songs are true stories, told over a sophisticated '80s funk soundtrack. Someone also once described our music as 'parrot friendly.'"
