After some years perfecting their craft, Freo outfit San Cisco mark September 2018 with a groovy surf rock/indie rock single with some excellent lyrics to match in When I Dream.

A logical progression musically for the four-piece puts into words many of the thoughts and feelings we experience as we grow older. Attached to a toe-tapping beat, a surfy vibe and smooth vocals comes a look into the motif of honesty, coming to terms with past mistakes and attempting to be mature with those we may have hurt. All the while, fighting (and sometimes giving in to) the urge to go backwards and continue to be self-destructive.

I've lost a few good friends lately, and I think it's my fault, not theirs / I was never a fake or phoney I just needed a change, I guess / Why does it feel so good to be self-destructing again?

Still, do not be mistaken. San Cisco transfer their quintessential positive Freo vibes to this smooth single. Producing an upbeat and fun version of some melancholic lyrics, almost sounding like they’ve been channeling Bon Iver, just in time for the Aussie summer. When I Dream is a well written and fun song, showing great coming-of-age insights into still interacting with someone that you’ve hurt in your life. The band's move to become a little more breezy, groovy and surfy than their previous releases marks a logical creative progression that can’t be mistaken. Starting out as an indie-pop/rock band, San Cisco have now progressed to be much more surfy and breezy. This time, with their San Cisco twist.

A great song for the upcoming summer season, When I Dream will be a regular fixture on many indie Spotify playlists as it can’t help but build a great atmosphere - despite its openly melancholic lyrics. Getting over all of the old bullshit and getting on with your life as adults, something a lot of us can relate to.

The super-fun track also now comes with a super-fun video clip, shot in and around iconic Joshua Tree, directed by Kristofski - known for his work with Die Antwoord, Pond and The Babe Rainbow. So settle into the cinematic clip below, and prepare for a summer onslaught from Freo's favourite sons and daughters.
