Soulful Adelaide folk act Sitara, centred on the duo of vocalists/sisters Erin and Tess Fowler, have announced an ambitious new project in the form of their first full-length visual album, Alchemy, and theMusic.com.au is stoked to be premiering its newest single today.
Leave It All Behind is, in Tess's words, a "feelgood song … about reflecting on the personal power I've lost in the quest for love, and finding genuine peace and contentment from letting it all go and coming home to myself".
It's a stunning slow-burner of a tune, the sisters capably backed up by instrumentalists Tom Kneebone (guitar), Kiah Gossner (bass) and Kyrie Anderson (drums) as they perform live at Adelaide's Mixmasters Studio.
"It’s simple, soulful and bluesy and my favourite genre to sing so it really feels like a catharsis song," Tess said in a statement. "Also, it has the sexiest sultry guitar solo from Tom Kneebone that I could listen to over again for days.

Leave It All Behind, which follows previous release Oh Mama, is actually the last song on the track list — "because what better way to end a journey?" she reflects.
"Hope you like listening as much as I like belting it out in the shower. Or my room. Or the car.
"OK, so pretty much I just sing this one everywhere… Enjoy!"
The full album is a collaboration with director Morgan Wright and cinematographer Ella Kroenig, of SA indie film studio Repeater Productions. The sisters also drew on the talents of time-lapse master Nick Graalman to create an "intimately choreographed … story [that] evokes a living musical landscape".
"Between us, we have run artist spaces, appeared in feature films, and released various musical projects, but none of our previous artistic endeavours have been as emotionally and personally directed as this project," Tess said in a statement.
"We really wanted to ensure that the release had true relevance to us and the society we live within; we have worked endlessly to ensure this translated both musically and visually."
Alchemy will be screened at Mercury Cinema on Tuesday 6 June, and will be released on physical media the next day. If you're in Adelaide, you can book tickets to the premiere via Eventbrite.
