British electronica outfit Asian Dub Foundation are a long way from home at the moment — presently in the country aboard the WOMADelaide line-up — so we're thrilled to have the opportunity to help show them some hearty southern love by way of hosting the world premiere of their brand new clip for recent cut Blade Ragga.
Taken from the band's sensational 2015 full-length More Signal More Noise, Blade Ragga is a nod to the futuristic scope of Memory War, from 2000's Community Music LP, which guitarist Steve Chandra Savale described in a statement as a "high-speed ragga track with loads of sci-fi effects".
"[W]e thought we'd invented a new genre, a futuristic ragga we called Blade Ragga," Savale explained. "And this track taps into that. It's also influenced by Miles Davis' Dark Magus, taking that album's sonic violence at high speed, and combining it with drum'n'bass."
If you can't make it to WOMADelaide, the clip should at least give you an indication of eclecticism and energy that permeates Asian Dub Foundation performances, matched with expert instrumentation and infectious grooves — not to mention that badass, spasmodic flute line.
