Music industry staff embroiled in the American Universal drug lawsuit are being offered career lifelines by Aussie footy clubs
As the industry was left reeling by accusations of drugs in the music industry today, it has emerged that embattled members of the major label Universal have been thrown lifelines that may yet save their careers.
It is believed that representatives from the Australian Football League's Essendon Football Club and National Rugby League's Cronulla Sharks have already made contact with members of staff who are alleged to have been involved in the consumption of marijuana and “engaged in intimate touching and grinding, involving buttocks and genitalia”.
A source close to the representative party who travelled to America today told SPA Confidential that both clubs “see the unfortunate legal issues as a fantastic opportunity to employ some of the music industry's most respected executives. Unfortunately, none of that action seems to happen at any of the labels in Australia, there's really another calibre of industry professional in America.”
Although initial talks are believed to be going smoothly any potential deal is at risk of being hijacked by the Australian Professional Cycling Commission. Although they have not discussed any specific roles for music industry employees who may be cast-off in the scandal there are many existing ties and mutual friends between the two parties.

The executives familiar with artist management may choose to stay in the US though, with a sports management company looking after the likes of Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones also being touted.
