Melbourne Fringe Focus: Minnie & Mona Play Dead

Answered by: Arielle Gray

Describe your show in a tweet: Minnie wants to play cheeky unicorns, Mona the #hamface wants to play dead, like, really #properdead.

Why did you decide to do Fringe 2015? Fringe has such a lovely energy, there is an enthusiasm about theatre and art, and audiences hold the power over what to see. It's a great challenge for a show to be presented at Fringe because you are really taking that baby that has been protected and nurtured and throwing it out of the nest to see if it will fly.

Tell us a bit about the creative team working on the project: We have such an amazing creative team. Jeffrey Jay Fowler is a smart, imaginative, playful and emotive writer and I love performing on stage with his words. Kathryn Osborne is a great director, not shy of taking things to ridiculous levels, but pulling them back when they need to be. Gita Bezard is a pleasure to be on stage with, we make each other laugh a lot and she lets me put my head in her crotch so there is a great deal of trust there.

In a fantasy world, who would you be the love child of and why? I am actually going to answer on behalf of my character Mona. I think she is the lovechild of Miley Cyrus and fictional character Wednesday Addams. Miley because she is gross and loud and Wednesday because she is obsessed with pain and death.
