The Top 25 Albums Of 2021 (So Far): June Jones - 'Leafcutter'

'The Music' team on the releases you need to hear from 2021.

More June Jones June Jones

From the moment the industrious drums and synths on opening track Jenny (Breathe) hit, it’s apparent that June Jones’ Leafcutter is going to be something special.

Those dystopian sounds that put her on every electro-pop fans radar back in 2019 are just as prevalent here, and Jones has only gone from strength to strength since her debut with Diana.

Since coming onto the scene with the alt sounds of former music project Two Steps On The Water, Jones’ sound has changed drastically. However, what remains in droves is the sheer, emotional rawness and authenticity that cemented her as a powerhouse songwriter in the first place.

From the intimately revealing Home to the effortlessly poetic Dried Petals, Jones continues to be one of the most prolific musicians going around.
