One of Listen Out Festival's big highlights will release their debut album, To Love You, on November 2nd..
It's hard standing out as an Australian band playing a festival with Skrillex, Brockhampton, ASAP Rocky and more, but somehow, Glades did it. The Sydney electronic trio were one of the big highlights of the festival according to basically everyone who saw them and even if you didn't make it, you can just tell they're one of the next big things (if they're not already - every single track they've released have over two million Spotify plays, some of them over ten million). Ever since popping up back in 2015/2016, the three-piece have grown to a low-key electronic group playing to a few dozen people to an act bridging that gap between 'alternative' and 'commercial' brilliantly than arguably any other in Australia right now - for example, their 2018 single Not About You has been slammed on commercial radio, while also being the most-played song on triple j this year - generally crushing it as they strive towards the release of their just-announced debut album later in the year.
To Love You - the trio's much-awaited debut record - is set to showcase the group's hypnotic electro-pop sound amongst themes of romance and self-love, combining an excellent theme with excellent sounds for an album that'll no doubt be... excellent. "To Love You explores the idea that there’s more to love than pure romance," Glades say on the album. "Not only romantic love; it explores different forms of love, such as loving the people around you, loving those who can’t express that they need love, as well as loving yourself. It maps the progression of a relationship from the first spark, to its complications, and resolves with the realisation that everyone needs love in all its different forms."
The album announcement comes with the LA-shot video for their most recent success, Eyes Wide Shut, which sees the band appear in one of their videos for the first time amongst some pretty dark and moody imagery.
