Boning music journos take out their break-up on innocent bands.
A selection of critically acclaimed local artists are being shut out of Australia's most popular music media sources after a sexual relationship between two music journalists ended in a bitter split.
As a result of the relationship break down, acts that remind the couple of each other are being vetoed by the journalists on their radio show and in their magazine respectively.
When asked why a new release from a Melbourne band – whose name SPA Confidential wont publish – wasn't covered, the radio presenter half of the couple replied, “I just can't listen to that band any more. Theirs was the first album we played at our 'Rare-Pressing Vinyl Appreciation Night In A Garage' gatherings we used to have. Now every time I see that band's name I think of him – that fucking arsehole. I even ran into him at a party wearing their t-shirt that I was going to ask the publicist to send to me.”
He, on the other hand, is threatening to boycott a whole genre unless major players in the emerging witch-glitch-mumble-core scene publicly denounce his ex.

“I want them to admit that I have been the driving force behind this scene, and not her,” he told SPA Confidential. “After all, it was I who introduced her to all these bands – and it means so much more to me. I can't fathom why she would try to like this music now that we're separated.”
There is a real fear amongst industry stakeholders now that the feud could grow and hold the industry hostage – with bands and associates having to choose whose side they're on.
Media analyst Tom Brabham said the split was a “great shame” for music in this country.
“While they were together they formed a really good platform of praise for each other and cross-referencing each other's work – particularly on social media when they'd regularly gush over each other's album reviews. Unfortunately that self-praise is now lost for the Australian music-listening public. And really, without strong-willed journalists who think they're more important than the music industry – how can we go on?”
While exact reasons of the split are unknown, it is believed that she discovered photos of him without her in an online gallery at a gig for a band she introduced him to.
