"Look at Ellen getting selfies at the Oscars! She saw my success and thought, ‘I want some of what Shaz has’."
Famous Sharron has taken selifies with pretty much everyone. At Fringe World this year she was omnipresent, hosting things, drawing raffles and getting her picture in the paper. The Fame Game saw her and her Famettes lather extra helpings of fame over guests like the Lord Mayor of Perth, Lisa Scaffidi, and Blake Johnson from Channel 7. The level and perpetuity of fame varied wildly, but Famous Sharron is very good at what she does. “Sometimes the fame-flame has gone out in my guests, sometimes they're on a new jetplane to greatness, but maintaining fame always takes something special from me. I've plucked audience members from obscurity and a day later they're recognised in noodle shops.”
Pretty much anyone can be famous, according to Famous Sharron; they just need to start letting people know. She suggests photo-bombing the background of party photos or live news broadcasts and working your way up. And plenty of selfies, of course, which are essential. “They are the shots the paparazzi can't get darls! Look at Ellen getting selfies at the Oscars! She saw my success and thought, 'I want some of what Shaz has'.”
After Perth Fringe World, taking out the Spirit of Fringe Award (“I was hoping it was some sort of drink, darls. But all I got was a medal, so I took a bottle of champas”), Famous Sharron immediately flew to the Wellington Fringe Festival in NZ to provide her services. “They keep going on about Lord Of The Rings, but as I told them, that was years ago, darls!”
Because her fame is so overwhelming it can't be contained in any one season, Famous Sharron will be hosting another Fame Game down in Fremantle when she gets home. “We actually have too many fabulously famous guests interested in the big show after the success of Fringe, so we're seeing if any of them release a sex-tape to put themselves in the front-running…”

Once chosen, guests will be flung into improvised 'famous situations', such as adopting a kid, handling scandals, creating controversies, live cooking shows and movie autobiographies. Every fame game is different, no one knows what will happen, and fame is the only guarantee. “Darls, after these interviews I'm off to Bali for a few days of massages and cocktails while the kids chase elephants. Then I'm back for the big show: off to the mines for a few gigs, a live cooking show, a desert survival show, a new video clip… with some top-secret announcements coming up in a few weeks for another Perth festival – [but] you didn't hear it from me darls!”
