J’aimez Bruine and Salut Barbu (that’s Jaymes Brown and Jack Faulkner) chose a few tracks that have been on high rotation in our bedrooms and at our parties over the last few months.
1. Night & Day EMOTION II EMOTION feat. RYANN (Ecstasy), 2012
This is such an easy song to play out and pull the dance floor together. It's got a sexy vocal, nice spacey synths, a classic '90s house bass line and awesome house piano. When beat kicks after the piano break in the chorus it's just pure hedonistic good times. I've never seen it fail to get everyone up.
2. Bump N Grind (Waze and Odyssey remix) GARAGE $ALE (Bootleg), 2012
I haven't even decided if I really like this song, but I can't stop playing it and thinking about, so that's a good sign. We've discussed a few times if it's ok to play it out, just because it's a bit much. It's hard, cheesy and deep, and it's super nineties gay club. If you dig that sound, you'll love it.
3. Freakin You (OOFT! House mix) JODECI
This is a truly genius rework of a '90s RnB track and something of a tribute to the definitive 1995 Dub mix by MK (Marc Kinchen). Like MK's version it's dirty, a bit nasty, unpolished and very fun. It just suits the vibe so well and there's plenty of variety in it so I think it appeals to an audience like ours who aren't just into straight long deep house cuts all the time.
4. Vision of Love BICEP (Feel My Bicep Records), 2012
Bicep's '90s piano house number is pure euphoric bliss. It's got a creeping, infectious bassline and classic piano loop. We recently had the pleasure of hosting the lads at a gym-themed party at Connections Nightclub that we put on with the {move} crew and when they dropped this, it was huge!
5. Face Love Anew (Dub mix) Stereogamous feat. Shaun J Wright (HNYTRX/Cocktail d'Amore), 2012
This is an original release from Australian duo Stereogamous that builds to a glittering, dreamy climax towards the end. The combination of Wright's vocals (who you will recognise from Hercules & Love Affair's latest LP), the dreamy synths and percussion is sublime.
6. Child George Fitzgerald (Aus), 2012.
This is some big-room fun by an upcoming UK producer. It's got a jacking, Chicago vibe and when the thumping bass line kicks in you can't help but move.
