The Zep Boys (Mick Goddard)
The Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame: a prestigious promenade that overlooks the glittering River Torrens. Connecting King William Road and the Riverbank Footbridge and linking the Festival Theatre and the Dunstan Playhouse, the walkway celebrates vital artistic contributions and is a prominent feature of the city of Adelaide.
The Walk of Fame is intended to represent and celebrate the calibre and variety of artists who have performed at these much-lauded venues, and dates all the way back to 1973.
Every year, three stars are added to the walkway. The public are always encouraged to vote for a star addition - a vote that is always riveting and hotly contested. In addition to the public choice, two more stars are selected by Adelaide Festival Centre Trust (AFCT) and a panel of arts critics. Major names that stud the walkway include Roy Orbison, Cold Chisel, Billy Crystal, Cate Blanchett, Olivia Newton-John, and many more - too many icons to count.
This year, iconic South Aussie tribute act The Zep Boys have been nominated for the prestigious Walk of Fame.
Other performers shortlisted for the public choice vote include British-Australian comedian and actor Miriam Margolyes, American jazz genius Herbie Hancock, actress, television host, and Play School veteran Justine Clarke, and Tony Award-winning American theatre icon Patti Lupone.
