"Wilhelm are not a band to do things by halves and their set proved exactly that."
Meet the duo behind Stoney Roads Records' second-ever release.. Since announcing the launch of their new Stoney Roads Records label, the good lads over at Stoney Roads have dropped two tunes thus far. The first saw some fairly chilled future-beat stylings in the form of 20-year-old German producer Mazde and his tune Shifted Thoughts feat. La Mar. Since then the featured vocalists on that track - La Mar - can proudly laid claim to release 002 - Anchor, another very chilled slice of groovy electronica. Take a listen below, and get to know the Sydney duo after that: What kinda tunes we talkin’? Smooth, slow, electronic. It’s about taking the vibe that inspired us and making other people feel the same way. Production/writing process: Plug in a Fender Rhodes, a moog and a microphone. Then have a click around in Ableton. Keeping the process as fluid as possible. What do you do outside of La Mar? We are both pretty focused on music and it is a huge part of our lives. Last year, Canberra resident and punk rock uber fan Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber - A.K.A ‘The Ginger Ninja’ - was tragically murdered. The punk community has since come together and in an effort to raise funds for Vision Australia, will host the inaugural Gingerfest this year in Sydney. Melbourne locals, Anchors, were recently added to the mini-fest – which also includes Hightime, Revellers, 28 Days, to name a few - and we caught up with the band's drummer, Pat Murphy.
Melbourne boys, Anchors are keeping the energy and the passion of the local music scene alive and well with their sporadic live show and punk rock aesthetic. The band are gearing up to play the annual Tape Deck festival this September so we had a candid chat with lead vocalist Brett Horsely about the festival, the recent cancellation of The Wonder Years tour and the unpredictable beast that is pop-punk.
Anchors are back! After having a break from the stench of each other's sweat in a van, the band is ready to tour, write and wreak havoc like the contemporary punks they are. Playing The Australia Day Weekend Fundraiser, Killyourstereo.com sat down with the group to talk about the show, the band's future and Taylor Swift!
Melbourne punk band Anchors are set for a big end of 2012. They have just released their new album "Lost At The Bottom Of The World" and will be launching the release of the record by hitting the road later this month with Transit, as well as heading over to America for the first time in October to play The Fest in Gainesville, as well as a string of other shows while they're there. We caught up with the band's guitarist Patrick O'Shea once again to discuss the new record, as well as the band's touring plans.
A big dirty smack in the face, in the best possible way.
Technical hardcore influenced punk for the masses.
Melbourne Tarago Punx Anchors have recently capped off their debut studio album, entitled 'Bad Juju' and are fast approaching a spot at Melbourne's All Age Pushover Festival as well as some dates with international melodic hardcore superstars No Trigger. Pat from the band answered a few questions for us.
