'Everything Fell Off': The Struggles That Birthed Telenova's New Album, 'The Warning'

Carley Hall, Journalist

Carley Hall

Carley Hall is a Gold Coast-based writer who loves spinning a good yarn. She’s worked in print news rooms for more than a decade and now juggles young family life with a busy career in research communication, promoting all types of science from the dire and necessary to the weird and wonderful.

When she’s not doing all of the above, she’s dancing around her living room trying to brainwash her kids into liking her taste in music or getting out to see some gigs. Carley likes the heavy stuff most, but if it’s got hooky melodies, clever lyrics or off-kilter beats nothing is off limits.

Live Review: Iluka, Bree De Rome, Kath Haling
The many layers of much-loved single, 4th Of July sit surprisingly well in the mix, and when old single, Paper Doll gets a look in it shows just how comfortable this young lady is in embracing her Dusty Springfield/Stevie Nicks tags.

Album Review: Black Stone Cherry - Magic Mountain
The Kentucky four-piece bend their vocals into an almost Chris Cornell-like upper register warble; it’s immediately jarring alongside snappy bass and buzzing guitars on time-changing opener Holding On…

Album Review: Whitechapel - Our Endless War
It’s this more melodic factor that keeps these great tracks rolling along.
