Moulds what could be unwieldy beasts into cohesive tracks with soundscapes and motifs that continually delight.

More The Algorithm More The Algorithm

French multi-genre multi-instrumentalist Remi Gallego returns with his electronic djent-style project The Algorithm with second album Octopus4. Gallego's buzzing fusion of scatty beats with clean-cut melodic synth lines scaling the high wire in tracks like Discovery and Pythagoras almost always give way to a sudden burst of that psyche-satisfying metal djent crunch, and it's what pushes this album beyond the ordinary. The man has a way with not only weaving a complex array of lines in Damage Points, for instance, but also moulds what could be unwieldy beasts into cohesive tracks with soundscapes and motifs that continually delight.
