This year’s turnout and the fantastic, diverse line-up of local and national acts should indicate that HyperFest is here to stay, and for good reason.

The excessive use of ‘Woah’s, ‘Oh’s and call-and-response could have made things monotonous but Leto lifted and carried the show to the playful nexus of music, theatre, improv and comedy.

To play to such a magnitude, a sense of theatre is needed, and the band had that in spades.

Despite the lack of definition and abuse of the encore tradition, Austra lived up to their reputation of energetic and dramatic entertainment.

Despite displays of genitalia and songs of cunnilingus, Papillon is never trashy, always sassy and brings a super-sexy cheekiness to Fringe World.
