More Midlake Midlake Profile

It’s been a long 13-year wait for local indie-folk devotees, but Texas stalwarts Midlake have officially confirmed they will return to Australian shores for three shows in March 2027.

Marking their first run of dates Down Under since 2014, the six-piece outfit are heading back to celebrate their acclaimed sixth studio album, A Bridge To Far. The band will hit Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney for a limited three-show run, but it’s bad news for fans further west, with no Perth or Adelaide dates on this run.

Formed in 1999, Midlake have spent more than two decades shaping modern psychedelic folk and indie rock. Across their career, they’ve earned a dedicated global following through their intricate arrangements, rich woodwinds, and transportive lyricism—qualities that come through in spades on their latest effort.

Recorded in their hometown at The Echo Lab alongside producer Sam Evian, A Bridge To Far finds the ensemble leaning into themes of perseverance, human connection, and genuine renewal.

The atmospheric lead single The Ghouls is a highlight in the band’s 25-year career, and the record plots the group's sonic evolution across further standouts like The Calling, Days Gone By, and Guardians. The release features guest contributions from Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, alongside Hannah Cohen and Meg Lui.

For frontman Eric Pulido, the record marks a defining moment of artistic clarity after a quarter of a century together.

"The reference and inspiration is Midlake," Pulido said of the creative process. "This album is less about sounding like someone else and more about sounding like us."
