Album Review: Yppah - Tiny Pause

"This record drifts into spaced-out kaleidoscopes of jazzy abstraction."

Yppah's fourth album sees Texan Jose Corrales Jr blowing us entrancing bubbles of atmospheric electronica.

The light and breezy tone of this album oozes chilled summery goodness. Skittering breakbeats maintain a forward motion while a beautifully textured mix of synths and very subtle psychedelic guitars deal out solos. This record drifts into spaced-out kaleidoscopes of jazzy abstraction. The understated intricacy of Yppah's drum machine and synth programming is astonishing and is sure to draw fans, but overall the mix washes up, suggesting the influence of early Air and Röyksopp.
