The art of the video clip has made a full-bodied return over recent years, and as more and more emphasis gets placed on understanding the connection between music and visual stimuli, it's guys like ROSS HENRY that filter through with an astounding knowledge of how to represent their music to its closest depiction.
It's no secret that music and visual art can be beautiful bi-products of each other. Henry realises this sentiment with his newest release, the video accompaniment for his track 'Flux'. A do-it-yourself masterclass for young artists, Henry was the driving force behind the creative angle and execution of every piece of this stunning dramatisation of change and contrast.
When describing the essence of the clip he offered this. "Flux is about transience, movement and how a shift in dynamics can foster or erode a safe space. Through physical experimentation i looked to explore scale, texture and time to convey the idea of vast global transitions. Similar to recent single 'The Deep', the video for Flux utilises the same fundamental techniques i use to produce electronic music".
It's obvious in the shuttering motion and dynamic shifts in angles and viewpoint, that Henry had a clear view of what this song should look like and how to go about exercising the feelings he put into the original track.
The clip follows the natural progression of electronic music, jarring flashes between shots of warming natural landscapes, and close up views of both nature and the human form. In any other genre this would be considered messy, but the way the visuals remain in a state of perpetual change between such powerful images offers a precise view on the world around us today, absolutely nailing the song's premise.
At every turn the song takes, the video accompaniment is right there beside it, offering a near perfect visual rendition of what only exists to our primal senses as sounds. It's clear Henry dabbles in something that cannot be measured by our senses; a complete understanding and comfort in the music he creates opens up profound vision of what he wants to accomplish.
Little can be -or needs to be said about this clip- without spoiling the impact this video has on fresh eyes. If you like your visual art coupled with an uplifting new tone of audio accents then I encourage you to give three minutes of your time to this stunning expression of the vast changes, but also the innate similarities between ourselves and the world we live in.
