Brisbane pop queen LÂLKA had one hell of a festival run these last few months. With appearances at FOMO's sold out Brisbane leg, St. Jeromes Laneway Festival, Melbourne Music Week, The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and a performance at this year's Electronic Music Conference, she's back with the first taste of what she's been working on.
Taking on Death Club 7's original, she's reworked it and shared 'Cursed Crown 2.0'. The track feels like a true culmination of both her influences and her style of creating, with the wonky production, shifting vocal effects and oddball lyrics taking centre stage here.
The track lavishes in its eccentricities, the opening misspelled declaration of 'I am a bitch, B-I-C-T-H' roaring over the clanging, dissonant instrumental. The menacing original is given the LÂLKA touch here, with her saccharine vocals, bouncing lyricism and expert ability to shift between moods like it's nothing.

It's the second time we've seen LÂLKA collaborate with another artist, and it's a testament to her ability in being flexible, but also staying true to her sound and artistry.
Death Club 7 performed at the first LÂLKA & Friends club night last year, and the pair have been pals since. Of the collaboration, she said "DC7 performed at the first LÂLKA+FRIENDS clubnight last year, and played the OG version of the song. I immediately wanted to work on it - I could hear so much potential though the original was a banger in its own right. Fortunately DC7 was open to the idea!"
And in true LÂLKA fashion, there's a self-made clip to accompany, with DC7 in tow. Colours, light and a whole serving of fierce energy are on show here, with personality and charisma oozing from every inch of this one. Check out her self-directed & edited clip above.
