"A bittersweet symphony to the suburbs."
For a self-professed outdoor type, Melbourne songwriter Zack Buchanan sure is an ideas man.
Mostly, he sings about work, life, love and loss, reflected in the opening track and lead single, When The Sun Goes Down. He seems to have a love-hate relationship with the nine-to-five, the other songs continuing this portrait of life in the sprawl. There’s a fear of technology on Onions & Avocados, although Day To Day best encapsulates the spirit of his music. There’s a “certain kind of comfort in mundane,” he sings. A bittersweet symphony to the suburbs.
