"With no further delays, the boys rip straight into 'My Face' and instantly it's impossible to see anyone not dancing."
On debatably one of the coldest nights of the working week, young adults from all over flock to begin an amazing night out at possibly Brisbane's favourite venue, The Zoo. The semi-large venue hosting a sold-out Skegss first Brisbane show on their massive Europe, UK and Australian Holiday Food tour.
Kicking off the night to a relatively small yet relaxed crowd, North Coast NSW pub-punk band Mini Skirt began to rip into an aguishly angry set. Shredding out tracks off their EP Taste, like Security, Billy Elliot and Out Of Place, the small crowd starts to psych themselves up and start an early, yet depressingly small, mosh.
While everyone's still riled up and psyched from the opener and the tracks played over the intermission, the venue finally packs out with the crowd ready to catch a glimpse of local Brisbane indie rockers, Good Boy.
Opening with beautifully mellow tracks, the band proclaim how amazed they are with the reception of the crowd, and then ripping right into well-known tune Ya Mum's Ya Dad. While the band plays chill overdoses of chorus and flange it's hard to find anyone who isn't dancing or crowd surfing.

Following an impressive performance of crowd favourite Green Dress, calls for track Transparency begin among the front row of the crowd. Nearing the end of their set, the band finally rip into the track, with the crowd going crazy over the gorgeous pre-chorus lyrics of "Cross my name, I'm out. Strike me from your records".
With Good Boy closing with a new, unreleased track, the crushing of the packed crowd began to hit worst at those at the front of the security barrier, with everyone ready to catch a glimpse of Byron Bay favourites Skegss.
After an intensive crowd chant for the band to come on, the three boys jump on stage with bassist Toby Cregan welcoming the crowd and giving a massive shout out to Mini Skirt and Good Boy. With no further delays, the boys rip straight into My Face and instantly it's impossible to see anyone not dancing.
Following on with tracks You Probably Won't Die For A While, Wake The Fuck Up, Mustang and an insane performance of both Fun and No Future, the boys begin to rip into a faintly familiar track - a cover of Adam Sandler's Somebody Kill Me from The Wedding Singer. At this point, the crowd goes insane.
Closing off the night with crowd-roaring track Spring Has Sprung, the venue quickly begins to empty out, with everyone still in complete awe with the perfection of the night. It's safe to say that Skegss will always move on doing remarkable things within the live music scene. What a crazy night.
