Saskwatch get sassy and sultry at Amplifier Bar.
It was an intimate acoustic set from Melbourne's Jim Lawrie that welcomed punters in from the cold.
Beginning with powerful vocals that soared above his guitar work, it wasn't long before he invited Saskwatch guitarist Rob Muinos to join him, adding subtle nuance on electric guitar. Local country rocker Ruby Boots joined the pair and the large crowd in the beer garden quickly migrated inside to catch the rest of the set.
Local favourites FOAM kicked things up a notch with their groove-laden take on modern Australian grunge, reminiscent of older Silverchair, and early '90s alternative. With an energetic and aggressive stage show, their songs were heavy, catchy and unilaterally appealing. The band looked at ease, with a commanding stage presence and the crowd seemed to appreciate the wall of sound they unleashed. FOAM finished off the set with a new song, playing with a youthful exuberance and nonchalant attitude that suggested they were simply there to rock your face off.
