Live Review: 'Surprise Machine' from Our Mother is eerie, in the best way possible

Our Mother bring us an electro-pop track 'Surprise Machine' that wouldn't be out of place in a horror film.

OUR MOTHER bring us an electro-pop track 'Surprise Machine' that wouldn't be out of place in a horror film.

A darker, almost sinister brand of pop Our Mother's 'Surprise Machine's smooth melody and constant harmonies are undoubtedly the realm of pop music it's very different to most of what's out at the moment. The track features a range of unusual synth and pad sounds that resonate throughout the track and give an eerie feel to the whole piece. Even the use of saxophone (an increasingly popular instrument in pop music) manages to feel almost creepy despite it being such a bright instrument rarely associated with any kind of horror.

'Surprise Machine' is a masterful creation that utilises a variety of sound to create a unique sound.

A.O.B, the band's debut EP, is out on the 29th of April via Lucky Number with pre-order for vinyl and digital copies of the record open now.
