Album Review: Goat - Commune

StarStarStarStarHalf Star

"A mind-altering walk on the wild side for those seeking enlightenment."

Mysterious Swedish outfit Goat deliver their second album wrapped in layers of mystical cosmic meaning exploring spirituality.

The twisting psychedelia of Bondye aligns with Haitian voodoo. The group continues to charm as they work elements of world music into trance-inducing loops that create a thick haze of fuzzed-up drone and acid rock. Goat’s thick sludge of noise explodes with obvious references to Amon Düül and the heavy grind of proto-metal while allowing itself to be propelled by the joyous thump of funky Afrobeat rhythms.

A mind-altering walk on the wild side for those seeking enlightenment.
