"Everyone let their hair down, got in the groove and enjoyed a night of classic Australian surf punk."

The back room of The Waratah is no stranger to friendly and cosy vibes. Although the crowd was small, it did not take away from the atmosphere in the room. The night's support acts kicked things off with Hobart band A Swayze & The Ghosts bringing the goods first up. A few bodies adorned the couches and watched on as the guys played riff after riff and had an awesome time doing it. Hobart talent was shining through with local band Skate Wounds bringing a little fun and surf punk vibe to the growing audience.

Bleeding Knees Club mingled in the beer garden out the back for a while, drinking beers and chatting before heading in. The room was noticeably fuller - although still a small crowd. It was set up to be a good night regardless and around 100 people packed into the room, getting up and about and having a solid boogie. Bleeding Knees Club had few words to say between sets, pumping out favourites such as Teenage Girls, Have Fun and of course Chew The Gum, the title track from their new EP and the reason behind their national tour.

The crowd was having a blast and there was plenty of room to move. Towards the front of the stage things got a bit rough at times with bodies jumping about everywhere, but this didn't stop the girls getting to the front and screaming requests for Girls Can Do Anything. Despite this request not being granted, instead answered with "we don't know how to play that", there were no unhappy faces in the room. Everyone let their hair down, got in the groove and enjoyed a night of classic Australian surf punk. Hobart was their third stop on the tour so no doubt they'll be swinging by a pub near you before finishing up in WA. If you can, do yourself a favour and grab some mates, have some beers and get around it!
