Baby AnimalsDespite a dramatically changed music industry since their early '90s heyday, Baby Animals captivated their faithful fanbase on stage, playing songs from their latest album, aptly named This Is Not The End. The band played a mix of old classics as well as new material from their first studio album in 20 years. Suze DeMarchi and Dave Leslie with Dario Bortolin (bass) and Mick Skelton (drums) opened with undoubtedly one of their biggest hits Rush You followed by classic hits, including One Word and Painless. The sea of leather clad fans who had been pretty motionless throughout the opening acts The Bonez and The Art finally lit up when Baby Animals began playing their set, which was fairly loaded with tracks from their 1991 self-titled debut album. The band also showcased songs from their latest album, playing current single Email, a song that has retained the magnetism of their biggest hits being a standout crowd favourite on the night. It was obvious that the crowd adored Suze, who even after all of this time could stand up and tear the house down, proving that she is truly one of Australia's best female rock performers. She belongs on the stage, and it is great to see her back up there doing what she does best. With the entire crowd up, dancing and eating out of the palm of their hands, they ended their set with Early Warning, before returning to the stage and treating the crowd to an encore finally closing the show with Ain't Gonna Get.
