Introducing - Ceres
Melbourne four-piece Ceres give us the skinny on their new album.. Just ahead of their national tour kicking off this week, we thought it'd be nice to get to know Melbourne outfit Ceres, who are celebrating the release of their album I Don't Want To Be Anywhere But Here. Buy it via the Hobbledoyhoy Records WEBSITE, and read on with one of the most self-deprecating bands we've ever met. Who are you? We are four friends from Melbourne trying really hard to be a cool band, but failing miserably. More specifically, my name is Tom and I play guitar and sing in the band CERES. How’d you meet? Met Rhys drunk at a party one time, then met GY drunk at a party one other time. Frank doesn’t really drink, so I guess the rest of the band were drunk and Frank was sober when we met him at a party some time after that. What kinda tunes we talkin’? I guess they are pop-rock? Hate that term though. A little punk-ish maybe? A fair bit of emo influence in there too. They are definitely woosy at times. I d

Interview - Black Lips
We catch up with Atlanta's favourite punks Black Lips for a chat about their new record.. It's 7am Perth time when my phone rings with an ultra polite conference call man connecting me through to Jared Swilley, the bass-playing party extraordinaire from Atlanta, Gerogia. We are a both a little hazy, I've had like three hours sleep and he is currently driving from one show to the next, in the mountains on his way to Portland. The phone will drop out three times before the interview is done which is tough at the best of times but the state we are both in is making things a touch hard.  Fortunately Jared is a lord about the constant drops out and we have a great chat about their latest record Underneath the Rainbow, which has just come out, the truth about SXSW and touring the Middle East. Underneath the Rainbow is the new record, it’s been three years in the making since Arabic Mountain so what’s been happening in the world of Black Lips? Well, we toured a lot. When we go on tour it's no

Client Liaison - That's Desire
A new video clip to go with a heap of tour dates for the Melbourne disco enthusiasts.. Whoever out there was saddened when Azari & III promptly stopped doing Azari & III last year need no longer worry - Melbourne duo Client Liaison are bringing the '80s pastiche and bringing it hard. The thing that separates good music from novelty is earnestness though, and it's something Client Liaison have in spades - you need to believe they're vibing the tunes they are making. And it's been pretty obvious from the word go Client Liaison do, and it is glorious. They've just released a new video for the single That's Desire, and it's super fun and the song is a cracker. It's actually a B-side to earlier single Free Of Fear, which itself has just received the remix treatment from Com Truise and Knightlife. Check 'em all below, pre-order the vinyl HERE, and make sure you get along to one of a bunch of dates on their upcoming Australian tour: TOUR DATES: Sun April 20 – Portsea Beach Club, Portsea VIC

MT WARNING - Midnight Set/Video Premiere
To celebrate MT WARNING's new album, we're premiering a sweet live video today.. We’ve been big fans of Mikey Bee’s MT WARNING for a long time now - his haunting, psych/folk/country/alt-rock project that began when he hooked up with surf film director/legend Taylor Steele. More recently he and his two offsiders rocked some killer live sets at St Jerome’s Laneway last month, and since then he's been off impressing people in the US. MT WARNING's debut album, Midnight Set, is out today (stop reading - go get it NOW), and it's proof in the pudding of the dude’s potential. Kicking off with the Midnight Dawn, it's a rollicking affair that's still not afraid to explore the spaces within songs. It's seriously beautiful stuff from start to finish, kinda like a mish-mash of acts ranging from Cloud Control and the older works of The National, to Sigur Ros and even The Temper Trap, who he supported in the UK last year. It's as polished a debut LP as we've heard in a long time, which is why we're a
