Interview - Deejay Earl
CIRCO guest Deejay Earl takes five with Dani Marsland.. WTF? WTF? WTF? WTF? TEKLife Just Sent It Up... The Ghettoteknitianz are a formidable clique of footwork DJs based in Chicago, led by Spinn and the recently passed Rashad, and whose crew includes Traxman, Gant-Man and younger producers like DJ Manny and Deejay Earl. Earl is one of the more interesting figures in the crew – at only 22, his emotive footwork more than measures up to that of his mentors, and progresses steadily in quality with each release. Earl has an excellent understanding of rhythm and stands apart for his exploration of the slower, soulful aspects of footwork; with a more leftfield approach to sampling (his release Audio Fixx’ vocal subjects include Imogen Heap and Sade). Earlier this year, Earl unleashed an hour of some of the dopest, freshest shit we’ve heard, during his Boiler Room SET in LA, where he shared the bill with Djemba Djemba and Hoodboi. Beyond excited to see that same fire live in Perth when Earl th

Friday Freebie: Banks - Drowning (Lido Remix)
The Norwegian with the midas touch strikes again.. There's seriously nothing rapidly-rising Norwegian producer Lido can do wrong. Scrolling down his Soundcloud you'd be hard pressed to find a dud remix or original there. And that killer run continues with the release of his rad new remix of Banks' Drowning. The slow crawl to her eventual album release has been done perfectly, with the LA songstress employing all kinds of cool kids to re-work singles from the upcoming release. Lido follows in the footsteps of such luminaries as Dream Koala, Kaytranada, Ta-ku and Snakehips, and easily holds his own with his signature sounds permeating throughout Drowning. Starting a some Cashmere Cat-esque intro, the remix quickly shifts into epic synth stabs and happy clappy trap sounds. Putting it out for free is just criminal really:

Introducing - Tora
Beautifully chilled beats out of Byron Bay.. Sometimes you hear a track from a band that you've never heard of before and it actually makes you stop checking Facebook etc. for three-and-a-half minutes. Yesterday that track was Overcome feat. Potato Potato, from a five-piece outta Byron Bay called Tora. You might even send them a Q&A straight-away, and they might even reply even quicker. Immerse yourself in Tora's SOUNDCLOUD, because it's all killer. Tell us about about yourselves? We are five guys in our early 20s from Byron Bay who have a dangerous obsession with music and strive to make unique sounds that anyone can enjoy. Our entire worlds revolves around the fans for whom we make our music. We like to be resourceful so all of our art is made internally and when we need something done we just learn how to do it ourselves. What kinda tunes we talkin’? We have lots of new music on the way that have many different feelings packed into them. Some are chilled/downtempo and others upbeat

Buying Vinyl Without Being A Prick
Yes vinyl is cool, no I don't need you to punch me in the face with this fact.. Despite the ease of downloading music off the internet these days (how most teens get their tunes), vinyl is now being re-embraced by the youth and its purchase has become rather popular. This is good, vinyl is a great thing that brings you closer to the music, is taking teenagers further from the download link, and putting much more actual money in artists’ pockets . However, in our self-absorbed society vinyl is now being used to promote one’s ‘cool factor’, and with social media a part of everyday life, it’s an easy trap to fall into. The act of purchasing vinyl must be executed carefully to ensure happiness without up-yourself-ness and following these easy steps you can do so.

Akouo - Mesa EP
A glorious new body of work from the Tasmanian beatsmith.. We've been big fans of Tasmanian producer Akouo for a while now, and this week sees the release of his new EP, Mesa - another killer release in a long line of them out of the Die High Records stable. Featuring a couple of singles you might have already heard in Last Time and Not Enough, along with two you probably haven't in Passing Through and Seas Roll On, the Mesa EP confirms Akouo's status as one of Australia's most exciting and hard-working producers of now. Underneath Akouo's glitchy, lo-fi R&B jams lies some of the tightest production you're likely to hear, and combined with his soothing, at times-fuzzy and ethereal vocals, it's a stellar release. You can stream it below, but why not just go buy it from the iTUNES STORE - dude gives away so much incredible music, it's time to start giving a little back. Follow Akouo on FACEBOOK // SOUNDCLOUD

Circo Teaser Video
We're going down a deep and trippy-as-shit rabbit hole this year.. If you've heard us bleating on about Circo Festival a lot it's because a) We're helping run the damn thing, and b) It's gonna be the bee's fucking nuts. There's only two weeks til Circo takes over the Claremont Showgrounds (Saturday June 28), and the likes of Ryan Hemsworth, Nina Las Vegas, Violent Soho, Kele, DMA's, Golden Features and more (check 'em all out at the Circo Festival WEBSITE) will blow you away aurally. And while they're amazing in their own right, we firmly believe the music festival in 2014 needs to be more than just an audio experience. And this is where world-leading projectionists COMBS and SHADOW DATA come into play. Combs controlled our 'Blue Room' last year, and now he's joining forces with Shadow Data - a digital creative collective founded in Cambridge, UK. Kyle from the collective is now based in Perth, and they're combining forces to take over entire Pavilions as part of Circo Festival. We wan

The Art & Music Of Pink Lemonade
Celebrating their new album, Closure In Moscow interview the artist responsible for the LP's incredible design.. Melbourne progressiver rockers Closure In Moscow have just released their second LP, Pink Lemonade, which has been receiving glowing reviews from all the corners of the world. And we decided that rather than us tell you to go buy it (you should), we'd do something a little different, and focus on the incredible art and design of Pink Lemonade's cover and booklet layout. It was done by French artist Stéphane Casier, and Christopher De Cinque from Closure In Moscow had a chat with Stéphane, looking at his influences and the art culture of Paris, while Stephane quizzed Christopher on the group's latest album, their inspirations visually (and sonically) and more. THE ART & MUSIC OF PINK LEMONADE CHRISTOPHER DE CINQUE x STÉPHANE CASIER Christopher De Cinque: Hey Stef, firstly, thank you for taking the time to do this. The first time I ever saw your work, it was the brilliant Kaij

Interview - Royal Blood
The buzz may be well-deserved but Royal Blood aren't to sure how to deal with it.. Royal Blood's rise to the top is already becoming mythologised after Arctic Monkeys drummer Matthew Helder wore their shirt when he played at Glastonbury 2013. Furthermore, they were later asked back by the Monkeys to play their two-sold out Finsbury Park gigs. Finsbury Park holds around 40,000 people. That's 80,000 people. Furthermore, they already have over 60,000 fans on Facebook, and only one EP. When Liam Apter spoke with Mike Kerr (lead singer/bassist) and Ben Thatcher (drummer) they took a fairly aloof stance towards questions about their management, debut album, the recording process and coming from Brighton with dead-pan humour. Indeed, it provided a refreshing break that the band could readily joke about whether Batman was alive or not. But it also raised questions about how comfortable Royal Blood are with their newfound stardom, either that or it's really not too high on their agenda at the m
