ZootOne of Australia's favourite bands in the late '60s and early '70s is getting back together for a huge tour this year.
Zoot - featuring the line-up of Beeb Birtles, Rick Springfield and Rick Brewer and Russell Morris - will perform shows in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne this November.
The tour, the band's first in nearly 50 years, will be dedicated to late lead singer Darryl Cotton who died of liver cancer in 2012.
“This whole tour is about honouring Darryl Cotton and his band Zoot,” Springfield said.
“Darryl also had a band with Russell Morris, Jim Keays and Ronnie Burns for 16 years, so it’s great to have Russell celebrating Darryl by joining Zoot.”
Morris added, “I am not trying to be Darryl. But as I worked with Darryl for so long, he is a part of me.
"And I know how much he cared about Zoot, so I will give it my very best.”
Originally forming in 1964 as Down The Line before changing their name in 1967, Zoot enjoyed huge success with a heavy cover of The Beatles' iconic track, Eleanor Rigby, in 1970.
