Melbourne’s “cutest paddock party” is back for another year, with the When Pigs Fly festival announcing the lineup for its upcoming 2024 New Year’s Eve event.
Taking place on Tuesday, December 31st as part of Melbourne’s wider new year celebrations, When Pigs Fly will take over Collingwood Children’s Farm for a night full of live music and DJs spinning until the early hours.
On the live front, When Pigs Fly has served up a lineup featuring dream pop outfit Acopia, South-Sudanese Australian songwoman Ajak Kwai, Jakarta’s own ALI, the eclectic multi-hyphenate performer Allara, and pioneering Indigenous group No Fixed Address.
The roster of DJs is just as healthy, boasting a myriad talented names, including the likes of Detroit native Scott Grooves, Swiss selector Sassy J, Canada’s Patrick Holland, and local favourites such as Wax’o Paradiso, Milo Eastwood, and Boo Mojo.

The 2024 event marks the third outing for When Pigs Fly, which first launched at the end of 2022. The festival’s rapid success was thanks in part to the stark alternative it provided Victorian punters. Instead of impersonal high-energy affairs with a range massive international names, When Pigs Fly sought to provide an intmate gathering against the backdrop of the Birrarung River.
This year, the roster of 20 acts will be performing across the festival’s three stages, with organisers promising an expansion on previous events with the addition of “more music, more energy, and even more to explore”.
As they put it, punters can expect “a night under the stars with wide open spaces to dance, riverside views to enjoy, and a farm full of good times and great company”.
The 2023 outing was also followed by a special afterparty event, though it remains to be seen whether the same will be said for the upcoming edition.
Tickets to the 2024 edition of When Pigs Fly are on sale now, with full lineup, venue, and ticketing details available via the festival’s website.
