What's It Like To Play On 'Ellen'? Dean Lewis Tells Us All About It

'All of a sudden she does this introduction... curtains open and heart racing.'

More Dean Lewis Dean Lewis

Aussie favourite Dean Lewis ticked off yet another career milestone earlier this year when he performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and it turns out it was just as daunting as you'd expect.

Appearing on the latest episode of The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast, the Sydney songwriter spoke about his spot on the US talk show and the build-up to the performance.

"I've done a couple of TV shows now where the set is tiny, but [the Ellen] lot is on the Paramount lot. It's this gigantic warehouse with insane sets and backstage," Lewis told host Neil Griffiths.

"I didn't actually meet her apart from being on air. But I remember I basically put my in-ears in and then all of a sudden she does this introduction... curtains open and heart racing and I felt all the nerves.

"It was like my first gig again actually [with] the nervous excitement."
