Double J to take over Dig Music
Myf Warhurst
The new digital radio station from triple j has been revealed today, with Myf Warhurst leading the hosting talent on Double J.
The station is the rebirth of Dig Music, which public broadcaster triple j took control of in October last year. The station will rebrand as Double J – a nod to their original moniker Double Jay – on Wednesday 30 April with former Spicks & Specks team captain Warhurst hosting the first show from 12pm. She will then go on to host a weekday music show 11am to 3pm alongside presenters who will be announced during her first broadcast.
This first announcement comes after a six-month consultation process within the station and wider industry.
“One of the best things any of us working in the media can do is to deliver something that audiences genuinely want,” said ABC's Director Of Radio Kate Dundas. “I am truly proud that the entry of Double J into the market comes following an extensive public engagement campaign.

“We recognise people want to stay connected to music and discover new artists as they go through life – that's the simple aim of Double J. This new ABC service has been built on the views of people who love music, along with the expertise triple j brings to making great radio and amazing digital content for its audiences.”
As reported in October, Double J is set to remain a digital station and will not pick up its own analogue frequency. The station will likely have a loose '90s directive and hopes to cater to audiences who have 'moved on' from the triple j selection.
“We have wanted to build a station like this for a number of years and now, with your help, we are really proud to deliver Double J,” said triple j Manager Chris Scaddan. “While it won't be a throwback to the music of the original Double J, it will be a station that takes the best elements of triple j's past – a name, a presenter and the incredible archives, thrown headlong into the future with the best new sounds around. It means even more airplay for Australian music and more of the values and ethos that make triple j so celebrated around the world.”
Warfhurst added, “It's a really exciting time to come on board with such a unique project. It's a brand new platform where music lovers, like me, can discover new music and enjoy some old faves as well. I can't wait to be a part of that.”
Artists who provided playlist content for Dig Music during the transition period included Josh Pyke, Eskimo Joe, Kevin Mitchell and Clare Bowditch, Adalita, David Bridie, Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, Tex Perkins, Katalyst, Amanda Palmer and Jen Cloher.
The station's new website, where it will be streamed from Wednesday 30 April, has been launched today also.
